"How will I ever find my way back to this Community?"
The easiest way is to add the Community Home page to your Bookmarks (Netscape)
or Favorites (Internet Explorer) folder so you'll only be a "click
away" from your favorite Community. First, open the Community's
front page in
a separate window by right-clicking on the "front page" hyperlink
and then follow these directions:

For Internet Explorer:
Along the top of your browser
window, click on Favorites, and then Add To.... You'll be
asked if you'd like to be notified when the page is updated; the choice
is yours. Once you make your choice, you can find this Community again by
clicking on Favorites and selecting the appropriate listing.

For Netscape:
Click on Bookmarks and then
Add Bookmark. To find this Community again, click on Bookmarks
and select the appropriate listing.
Most of the links from this Community open in a new browser
window, so you can alternate between two or more Community pages
while you browse. To return to a Community's home page, you can use the
-Gardening Home- link provided in the navigation menus at the
top/bottom of most Community pages, or click your browser's Back
button if no menu link has been provided.
"What are the tabs across the top of the Community Home page?"
Each Community Home page has tabs to help you navigate within the Community. The
"Communities A-Z" tab takes you to the alphabetical listing of all Prodigy
Internet communities. The next tab brings you to the Community's Home page.
The "Chat" tab takes you to the Community's chat page that'll include a listing
of any scheduled chats the Community might host. And the "Books" tab takes you
to a web page describing the Community Leader's book picks.
"Okay, but now I want to wander around -this- Community... what's the setup?"
Most of Prodigy's Communities have two components: multiple web
pages and a Bulletin Board. The Community pages provide Community-specific
links and information displayed through your web browser. The links in the
menu on the right of the Community pages include:

Community Resources...
These are subpages authored by the Community Leader where you'll find
"depth and breadth"... more information about Community issues and interests,
it's Leader and Members and pertinent Community links.

Internet Resources...
These links take you out of the Community, but they were chosen because
they're solid links you may well regularly want or need.

Related Communities...
These are other Prodigy Communities that many Community Members
have found to be of interest... check them out!

For Your Information...
These links take you to some of Prodigy's features such
as the Interactive Guidelines and the Member Help Bulletin Board.

Prodigy Extras...
Great offers just for Prodigy Members!
Each Community's Bulletin Board (BB) is the
place to post notes/replies, discuss Community issues, seek/give
advice, congregate with old friends and find "friends unmet."
Our BBs are easy to use once you register; just click on the "register" link at
the top of every BB page and fill out the form. You can pick your
own "username" but the email address must be your email
address. Please enter your email address -very- carefully in the
form of
username@prodigy.net
as we use this address to send you a BB-generated password, that,
when combined with your chosen username, allows you to post on the BB.
Remember, unlike many features, you
do -not- get to choose your password initially... we send you the
password. But once you're successfully registered, you can change
your password to one you can remember easily. Be sure
to read the BB FAQ when you're on the bulletin board;
it'll tell you how the BB works, as well as how to use nifty
features like formatting your notes using UBB code.
"Why do I sometimes get a 'Missing Image'?"
Sometimes images (pictures, graphics, page counters, etc.) are displayed
on a web page as an empty box. This might happen if the image was removed
or renamed by the page author, or if the server/directory "home" of the
image can't be accessed; try RELOADing (Netscape) or REFRESHing
(Internet Explorer) the page to see if the image will display. If -all-
images on -all- web pages display as empty boxes, you may have turned off the
display of images; check your web browser's Tools>Internet Options (Internet
Explorer) or Edit>Preferences (Netscape) settings.
"Why do I receive error codes on some web sites? What do they mean?"
The World Wide Web is a dynamic environment; it literally changes by
the second. Web sites may be around the corner from you, or around
the world and there are millions of people who are using the web at
the same time you are. Web sites might become too busy to accept
additional traffic... they might be down for maintenance... or they
simply could be removed or changed in some way. These situations will
produce error codes when you access the web site. If you routinely
get error codes, chances are you've signed on at a peak traffic time
and it's going to take longer to get to your favorite places. If you
get an error 500, it usually means that the site
you've chosen is temporarily unavailable. Error 404
usually means that the site is permanently unavailable. If you get
an Error 404 trying to access a Prodigy Community, the
Community Leader would appreciate knowing you're having problems.
While we try to ensure all Community links are current, many factors
are beyond the control of the Community Leader.
"Why do some web sites just not function properly?"
There was a day when web designers didn't have much choice in how they
created a website; this has changed over the years as design tools and
HTML (the language all web pages are coded in) have become more sophisticated.
Unfortunately, not all designs work on all web browsers, computer systems,
etc. Many web sites also use plug-in programs, such as Acrobat Reader,
Shockwave, RealPlayer, etc. Well constructed sites tell you where to
get these (usually free) plug-in programs if you don't have them.
